U.S. Department of the Army Appreciates CESD’s Contribution to Global Security Strategy

Mr. Mark P. Hertling, Lieutenant General, U.S. Army commanding officially addressed to the CESD, Azerbaijan to express appreciation of center’s significant contribution to global security strategy. Comprehensive information on United States Army Europe (USAREUR) Campaign Plan and how USAREUR supports U.S. National strategy and European theater security stated in the letter.

Lieutenant General, U.S. Army mentioned that whereas the Army in Europe’s structure will be modified in the coming years, it will be evident from this Campaign Plan that the army’s capability to support multi-national partners remains unchanged.  The army sees an incredible opportunity to expand the engagement program with its European allies, especially through training events.

U.S. Department of the Army also welcomes future cooperation with CESD within the USAREUR Program.

General Hertling is the Commander of the approximately 42,000 US Army forces assigned to Europe, and he is the Army Component Commander of US European Command. While Hertling’s primary role is training US Army Soldiers and Units for Contingency and Full Spectrum Operations, he is also responsible for Theater Security Cooperation and Building Partner Capacity with the 51 Allied nations that are part of the European area of operation.
