The Asian Think Tank Summit to start in Tokyo

CESD Chairman will address on role of think tanks in his speech

The Asian Think Tank Summit starts on 12–14 June 2013 in Tokyo, Japan. The Summit takes place at the Asian Development Bank Institute, from Wednesday evening, 12 June to mid-day Friday, 14 June. The working title for the event is: Asian Century Seizing the Opportunities and Managing the Threats:: The Role of Think Tanks. The Summit brings together for the first time all the leading think tanks in Asia and the Pacific to collectively discuss the ongoing economic crisis as well as regional and global developments in a changing world order. The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADDBI) and the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania will coo-sponsor the Summit. The Dean of ADBI and the Director of TTCSPP will be in attendance at the event.

CESD- Center for Economic and Social Development is a single think tank from Caucasus was invited to the summit. Dr. Vugar Bayramov, chairman of CESD, will have presentation on role of think tanks in policy making process.

Fifty (50) presidents of the leading think tanks in Asia and the Pacific participate in the two-day Summit. The Summit focuses on the current economic and political challenges facing policy makers at national and regional levels in Asia and the Pacific and the role think tanks can play in developing constructive policy proposals and strategies for addressing the complex challenges. The Summit is organized as a roundtable with panel presentations and discussions conducted under the Chatham House Rule.
