About Us

Project Objectives

Overall objectives of the program are to increase opportunities for CSOs to develop broader and stronger relationships and raise the visibility and profile of the sector as a whole; to develop Azerbaijani CSOs' capacity and skills to design and develop approporiate capacity assessment and development plans; to increase debate, knowledge and understanding of key issues facing civil society, especially needs through dialogue between civil society and local authorities; to develop and improve Azerbaijani civil society organization actors' knowledge and skills in designing, planning and managing organizational development processes in order to promote initiatives which originate at local level through a comprehensive and dynamic training program.

The indicators for the overall achievements of the project are as follows:

• Local Capacity building support for CSOs in Azerbaijan provided
• Civil society in Azerbaijan strengthened around the concept of initiatives which originate at local level and have public and government participation in local and civic initiatives
• Exchange of experience and best practices among Azerbaijan CSOs strengthened • Collaboration among Azerbaijan CSOs and local authorities across Azerbaijan increased

Main Activities

• Training of Trainers Course
• Publishing of Training Toolkits both in English and Azeri
• Open CSO Trainings to CSO Staff and members, general public and local authorities on 8 topics:
           1. Understanding Civil Society and Setting up of CSOs
           2. Project Design and Management
           3. Strategic Visioning and Planning in CSOs
           4. Managing Staff and Volunteers in CSOs
           5. Fundraising for CSOs
           6. Communication and Outreach for CSOs
           7. Advocacy and Campaigning in Civil Society
           8. Networking and Relationship Building

Partners

Two non-governmental organizations are collaborating together to implement the project. These two partners are The Management Centre from Cyprus and the Centre for Economic and Social Development in Azerbaijan.

The Management Centre is an international NGO which works in the field of management and sustainable development by strengthening civil society and reconciliation; institutionalizing organizations and helping citizens by way of professional development and work based learning.
The Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) has been set up to promote research and analysis into domestic economic and social issues for the purpose to positively influence the public policy decision-making processes. The Center is a leading Azerbaijani think tank specialized in economic and social policy issues working with and establishing bridge between the government and the various representatives of civil society. Center positions itself in the center of the civil society having tight relationships with media, 24 communities spread around Azerbaijan, NGOs providing services at the grass-root level, international think-tanks, financial institutions and donors, and virtually all the other think tanks functioning in Azerbaijan.

Outcomes

Expected Results of the project are as follows.

a. 8 CSOs from 4 different region of Azerbaijan start develop relationships via trainings
b. At least 10 local trainers will improve their skills through trainings
c. Training of Local Trainers from at least 8 CSOs will delivered
d. A minimum of 360 people will attend the Open Trainings
e. 30 CSO and local authority representatives will attend the MGD workshop
f. At least 2 effective initiatives to be developed by local CSOs in the short run as a result of trainings to have multiplier effect
g. At least 100 participants aimed to attend the Civil Society forum
