Azerbaijan is interested in continuing the peace agenda in the region and is pursuing a consistent policy in this direction. Azerbaijan is a state that, along with the development of the peace process, is also prepared for alternative scenarios.

AZERTAC reports that this was stated by MP Vugar Bayramov, speaking at a roundtable held at the Center for the Analysis of International Relations.

"The main priority is to ensure sustainable peace in the region. Azerbaijan believes that one of the main guarantees of long-term and sustainable peace is the formation of economic relations.

Our approach is that the signing of a peace treaty between the two countries and the restoration of economic relations is a more realistic and effective model. Because the more entrepreneurs, business entities and economic actors are involved in the process, the more grounds are created for peace in Azerbaijani-Armenian relations to be more sustainable," the MP said.

V. Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan has formed economic relations with Armenia in the energy and fuel sectors in accordance with the peace agenda.

“All restrictions on products transported to Armenia through Azerbaijan have been lifted. According to official statistics, Azerbaijan exported 9 thousand tons of diesel, about 3 thousand tons of AI-95 and about a thousand tons of AI-92 gasoline to Armenia. At the same time, the volume of economic relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the first two months of 2026 amounted to $ 4.2 million. Armenia is already listed in the official statistics of Azerbaijan among the countries with which trade relations have been established.

This actually indicates that official economic and trade relations between the two countries have begun to form. According to our assessments, there are export and import opportunities for 38 products between Azerbaijan and Armenia under the mutual advantage model. Preliminary calculations show that the trade turnover for these products may be close to $ 300 million at the first stage,” Vugar Bayramov noted.

The deputy added that the mutual advantage model allows both sides to obtain economic benefits.

The model is that certain products imported by Azerbaijan can be offered more advantageously by Armenia or vice versa. "In this case, both sides gain economic advantages. This shows that there is serious potential for economic cooperation and mutually beneficial relations in the region," V. Bayramov added.
